This place is chaos!  There is no discernible order to the collection here with items strewn across this cavernous variety shop.  I use the term ‘variety’ as the Clearance Centre on Smith Street is not exclusively secondhand.  The collection of bikes that line the storefront hint at the farrago of objects inside this thrift store: bikes, books, wigs, luggage, vacuums, oriental fans, stereos, blenders, clothing, linen, toy, collectables, memorabilia, lamps, shopping trolleys, cassettes… even ice-skates!  There are heaps of bikes here, some don’t appear to be in working order however the man running the store seems adept at fixing them so if you are interested in a particular specimen it may be worthwhile talking to him.

This vintage store is not for the faint hearted, you will need to invest some time and serious rummaging skills to be recompensed.  Having said this, it was here that I found my much loved orange, vinyl overnight bag and have been returning ever since in the hope that I might stubble upon another.  Don’t be dissuaded by the chaos, but understand that this is not one of those stores where you can just pop in and immediately find what you’re looking for.
