Who knew a not-for-profit vintage store could be so fabulous? I had always assumed that Hunter Gatherer was privately owned but in actual fact it is run by the Brotherhood of St Laurence. The collection here is hand picked from the hundreds of thousands of items donated each year to the Brotherhood of St Laurence – so this really is the cream of the crop. The stock is affordably priced and best of all you know the proceeds are going to charity. Most of the collection is dedicated to womenswear however there is a small array of menswear. There is also a smattering of accessories and homewares.
This store is an absolute treasure trove, it’s teeming with colourful, high quality stock. It seems the staff take great pride in their store, which is evident in the wonderful window displays and well maintained the stock. For me the highlights were the selection knitted jumpers (made all the more appealing by the freezing temperatures outside) and the assortment of sewing machines that grace the upper shelves.
