Salvos – North Melbourne

Given it’s location amongst the ever increasing throng of cafes and restaurants on Errol Street I was expecting this North Melbourne Salvos to be a hive of activity when I visited on Saturday morning.  This was not the case.  It was very quiet, with just a couple of others milling around the store. The stock included clothes, furniture (couches, entertainment cabinets, mattresses), homewares, accessories, children’s wear, toys, VHS, CDs, puzzles and a collection of bizarre frog ornaments.

I must admit I found this op-shop sadly underwhelming.  While it is clean and super organised, I couldn’t help feeling like it lacked a bit of soul.  Having said that the pair of dark green 1920s chairs in the window display were quite lovely and I’m sure other great items are donated to this store from time to time, you just need to be there to snap them up.
