Hidden beyond the understated frontage of this sweet little store you will find a treasury of vintage items ranging from vinyl records to glomesh bags to purple tulle Cyndi Lauper-esque skirts. Much of the collection is dedicated to women’s clothes and accessories however there is a small selection of men’s gear which I’m told is going to expand in the near future.

I had driven past The Mill Market in Newcomb many times, for those of you who frequent the Bellarine peninsula you have most likely spotted the massive orange barn on the outskirts of Geelong. It was only recently that I found time to pop in and rummage through what can only be described as a secondhand megastore. The two levels of The Mill are brimming with goodies including retro speaker systems, homewares, kitchen cabinets, records, chairs, books, baskets, fishing rods, ladders, clothing, bikes, lamps, shoes, basins, rollerskates, chairs, fans, birdcages… You can even find giant plastic ice-creams in this place!
You will find the St George’s Parish Bargain Op Shop amongst the hustle and bustle of Racecourse Rd in Flemington. Behind the lovely Victorian facade you will find a miscellany of goods including books, clothing, children’s wear, furniture, homewares, linen, baskets, VHS, records, belts, ties, hats, wallets, shoes, games – even a backgammon set. This store is not for profit and the prices are very affordable so you can go nuts and not burn too large a hole in your pocket!
Just next to Fitzroy icon, The Veggie Bar, you will find this unassuming little vintage store. Given its location on prominent Brunswick Street the stock in Sheila Vintage is surprisingly affordable. Inside you will find a collection of men’s and women’s attire – lots of great dresses and blouses for the girls and rad retro t-shirts for the guys. Also in store is a concise but lovely collection of leather belts, shoes, bags, jewellery, ties, shoes (note the cowboy boots).
I recently stumbled upon this secondhand store in Windsor and was pleasantly surprised by what I found inside. The fit out is decidedly no frills but for those with a keen eye and a willingness to do a little rummaging there is gold to be found in amongst the clutter. The hodgepodge collection includes clothing, glassware, crockery, hats, jewellery boxes, furniture, globes, framed artwork, vases, records and lots of lamps.
