Description
This secondhand mega store on Sydney road was a hive of activity when I visited on Sunday. The racks and shelves at Savers are teeming with stock and are super organised – making what would otherwise be a completely overwhelming experience only mildly overwhelming. I could happily spend hours in this store rummaging through the barrage of stock which includes, clothes, furniture, prams, homewares, luggage, books, games, collectables, accessories, bags, belts, jewellery, ties and much more. For me the highlight was discovering an old Singer sewing machine in amongst the furniture.

Description
The last time I visited this Salvos store on Victoria Street it appeared to be in dire need of some love and attention – which, thankfully, it now seems to be receiving. During my visit there was a staff member dutifully attending to a bridal-wear display being set up in the window and general collection is carefully organised according to category. The rear of this op-shop houses a large collection of secondhand furniture including mattresses, dressers, dining tables, desks, wardrobe… even some outdoor furniture. The Salvos often have sales – all blue ticket items were half price when I visited and children’s books were 99 cents each – bargain!

Description
This place is chaos! There is no discernible order to the collection here with items strewn across this cavernous variety shop. I use the term ‘variety’ as the Clearance Centre on Smith Street is not exclusively secondhand. The collection of bikes that line the storefront hint at the farrago of objects inside this thrift store: bikes, books, wigs, luggage, vacuums, oriental fans, stereos, blenders, clothing, linen, toy, collectables, memorabilia, lamps, shopping trolleys, cassettes… even ice-skates! There are heaps of bikes here, some don’t appear to be in working order however the man running the store seems adept at fixing them so if you are interested in a particular specimen it may be worthwhile talking to him.

Description
Located on Johnston St, just a stones throw from the comparatively glamourous vintage stores of Smith Street, this Vinnies op shop is great for the thrifty shoppers amongst us. The range is diverse in both quality and typology; clothes, hats, shoes, leather-goods, wall hangings, luggage, scarfs, jewellery, books, games, homewares, furniture (including a lovely art deco wardrobe for $130 and 5 seater, reclining lounge suite for $300), VHS, vinyl records,PS2 games, stereos and even golf balls can be found in this large and unassuming op-shop. Like most not-for-profit agencies, donations are gratefully accepted, however it’s best to drop off items during opening hours as there are no donation bins located on site.
