Beyond the Victorian shop front of 303 Clarendon Street is a secondhand wonderland heaving with furniture, homewares, jewellery and artwork. It’s hard to walk past this store without being lured inside by the the array of secondhand furniture littering the pavement. The collection here is eclectic, with antiques from the 19th and 20th century rubbing shoulders with retro and modern pieces.
Set back from the buzzing atmosphere of High Street Northcote, Know Your Product is an absolute joy! This vintage store may be small but it packs a punch with heaps of lovingly restored mid-century furniture, homewares and electrical goods. Much of the furniture has been restored in-house by the owners Kath and Harvey, who are super friendly and happy to spend some time chatting about the wonderful assortment of wares that they have collected over the years.

I had driven past The Mill Market in Newcomb many times, for those of you who frequent the Bellarine peninsula you have most likely spotted the massive orange barn on the outskirts of Geelong. It was only recently that I found time to pop in and rummage through what can only be described as a secondhand megastore. The two levels of The Mill are brimming with goodies including retro speaker systems, homewares, kitchen cabinets, records, chairs, books, baskets, fishing rods, ladders, clothing, bikes, lamps, shoes, basins, rollerskates, chairs, fans, birdcages… You can even find giant plastic ice-creams in this place!
Next time you find yourself cruising down Point Nepean Rd take a pit stop at this pleasant little op shop. Beyond the lack lustre facade you will find clothing, homewares, toys, VHS, DVDs, sporting goods, records, books, haberdashery, hats, bags, belts and loads more. As you would expect at a country op shop such is this the prices are low and the quality of stock varies.

Given its status as a south side vintage institution, it would be remiss of me to not to visit The Chapel Street Bazaar whilst in Prahran. Like many other secondhand stores of this scale the Chapel Street Bazaar is broken up into individual stalls, each curated by a different pre-loved purveyor. Inside this enormous shop you will find a cacophony of goodies including furniture, glassware, crockery, telephones, crystal, canistes, lamps, stamps, slides, records, dolls & figurines, record players, shoes, clothing, watches, jewellery, globes, cameras, model boats, rocking horses… I could go on for days – seriously!
