Description
The Mission Op Shop was a little hectic when I visited, with staff and donations in abundance, there is potential for this opportunity shop to be quite lovely once it settles into its groove. The front of the store is brimming with men’s and women’s clothing whilst out the back you will find books, CDs, games, records, shoes, accessories and sporting equipment – there was even a set of retro golf clubs! The slightly disorderly stock makes for good rummaging and there are plenty of staff around to assist with any queries you might have. The Mission is currently recruiting volunteers, offering training and a supportive work environment for people overcoming mental illness. Donations are welcome and all proceeds from the store go towards supporting The Mission.

Description
Given it’s location amongst the ever increasing throng of cafes and restaurants on Errol Street I was expecting this North Melbourne Salvos to be a hive of activity when I visited on Saturday morning. This was not the case. It was very quiet, with just a couple of others milling around the store. The stock included clothes, furniture (couches, entertainment cabinets, mattresses), homewares, accessories, children’s wear, toys, VHS, CDs, puzzles and a collection of bizarre frog ornaments.

Description
It was Saturday afternoon when I visited the Salvos Store on Victoria Crescent and the place was a hive of activity -bustling with both staff and customers. The somewhat banal facade of this warehouse does not do justice to the exciting assemblage of secondhand goods inside, which includes clothing, shoes, ties, belts, hats, vinyl records, toys, sports equipment, DVDs & VHS, homewares, artwork, outdoor furniture, lounges, dressers, beds, mattresses, cushions, buttons, lamps, stools, ladders… and much much more. Salvos stores rely on donations, conveniently this opportunity store has a dedicated loading bay at the rear which is open seven days a week. The collection point is staffed, ensuring that all donations get to their intended destination and are not left exposed to the elements.
